Children born with special needs are not less — they are simply different in how they connect, express, and experience the world. But in most parts of India, especially in underprivileged communities, they are often seen as burdens rather than beautiful possibilities. Families are overwhelmed, social support is scarce, and basic needs become heavy challenges. At SAHAYA, we believe that every child deserves to grow in an environment that nurtures their dignity, health, and self-worth not just survive in silence.
The reality for most families caring for specially-abled children is marked by financial strain and emotional exhaustion. School fees become impossible. Doctor visits are delayed. Balanced meals turn into a luxury. And in many cases, therapy or medicines are discontinued simply because they’re unaffordable. What we do is step into this space of quiet need and make sure no child’s life is limited by a lack of access.
We work directly with families to provide timely financial help for school fees, medical treatment, essential nutrition, and clean, age-appropriate clothing. In cases where regular medication or therapy is required, we try to arrange for monthly aid, connecting families with local healthcare centers or volunteers who can assist. Every small effort made here is not a handout — it’s a hand held in solidarity.
